The BU's were landing, all over the Northen hemisphere where large Cities that hosted the Flag ships of the Delta Fleet sections, and thus..thier other ships..

For the Hermes, those who were here before, saw the Lake that was at the far end of the airfield. with a 'Bavarian type' town to the west. where People could walk to, * about 2 miles) or get a ride in hover vans. For some it was a chance to ride there Hover Bikes. The LG had a tend set up, renting out Hover Bikes for 5 creds an hour.

There were constant takes off and landings of BUs and shuttles. on the near side of the town, a Fair of sorts was going on... many types of beer and drinks were being sold, the air was full of the smells of baked bread and confections. Human influnece was there as well, as ice Cream and Cpotton Candy were sold..

games of skill, and games of chance were the order of the day as well.

may rides...again..influeanced by humans, had many aliens regretting sausages and pastires they had eaten

From Hermes Hangar bay===>

Nikki and Haley along with Mitch Got off the BU and were immediately hit with the smells of the provincial fair food. Popcorn, pastries, a bit of manure, a tad burnt sugar smell of cotton candy...almost home.
Haley spoke excitedly "Smells like the Jefferson county fair back home" a big smile on her face.
"Stay within eyeshot, but if you get lost what's the drill?" also smiling but still cautious.
"Go and find a Hermite person, tell them who I am and to find you. Don't wander off with strangers. Stay in public" Haley replied.
"Okay lets use a bus. easy on feet and arms" Nikki said headed that way. "What do we do first? food, games, rides?"
practically all three said "FOOD!" then began laughing

Arriving at the fair drop off and getting off they found a juggler tossing 4 what looked like bowling pins in the air. and a stand with hot fresh sweet popcorn. Not in a bag but on the cob and then a stick to hold it by. Haley pointed at that first. getting up to the table Nikki held up 3 fingers and was asked which butter? Plain, cinnamon, mesquite BBQ, spicy, or one from a Buran fruit that was kind of bacon-y flavored. Mitch asked for the Buran, Haley wanted plain, and Nikki shrugged and went for the BBQ. Each cob was washed in that butter giving the popped kernels some color and a different taste. Paying they moved on seeing a small corral or two with some goats, and a few similar creatures. another larger corral with some cows and a posting for an auction for cows. Then a main way with booths with chance games like knocking over some small milk cans, or popping balloons. One you needed actual money chips to toss into various crockery like a coffee mug or glass saucer. If you chip landed in it you got the piece plus another prize taped via not under it. Another Nikki thought odd but also needed actual chips too called 'Rat Race'. a big homemade wheel was spun and different colors placed with holed at the outer most. The colors were also along the tables where the people were. You put your coin on a color (the colors were the odds) and then in the wheels middle a covered cake cover was placed and then wheel gently spun and topper lifted, revealing a local mouse like creature who would run into a colored hole. that hole was the winner. it looked like fun. there were pony rides, a pig race, a small but still impressive Ferris wheel, wandering musicians. A Buran or human now living on Bura dressed as a clown passing out balloons. More food with caramel apples and candied Buran fruits, shaved ice of many flavors and ice cream. corn dogs, fried chicken, a pavilion that housed some contest winners like 'best pie', blankets, largest carrot, and such. Another that had various animals from what looked like Buran kids farm raised and showed off. An area near a small lake a dock was built and a few paddle boats could be rented that looked like water birds of Bura and Earth. Some more Earth made were about too and popular to those never seen or been on one, such as a roller coaster and a sizzler that looked like an octopus. The teenagers liked one that looked like a slingshot. All this and Nikki, Mitch, and Haley were going to eat their way through it. A few kids Haley remembered from the New York and other places as well. When meeting they hugged and were excited to see each other again in person instead of over a commlink.

"Condo or the Burian palace?" Madison laughed. "I was thinking hotel, but sure. The condo would have to be awfully big, though." She leaned forward as far as the straps would let her so she could see Lizzy and Izzy. "And I'm sure the love-birds would want some private time."

"Ooooh!" Her eyes twinkled as she eagerly took the com to see the dress choices. It didn't take her long. "They're both so beautiful, but yes, definitely that one." She pointed to the strapless gown.

Lizzy smiled and sat on the other side of Izzy against the bulkhead so she couldn't see the comm. Lizzy smiled that Izzy was making friend son her own without her help and that was awesome, now Izzy still had to talk to the SM.

" Yes Normally the LC does have a Condo on the Carrier Stations, we stayed here at the Palace and in the combat bunker we made when we flushed out other Empire troops." Lizzy giggled at the private time comment.

With both Sam and Maddy choosing the strapless gown, it would all but confirm that her instincts had been correct and that that was the dress she would be wearing when she got married ”Thank you, I think you just helped confirm my choice” Izzy said with smile as she retrieved her comms unit from Madison and tucked it back into her pocket with her turning bright pink at the mention of Private Time ”ah…yes…um…well the beds are decidedly larger and more comfortable than military issue bunks” she shyly responded, with the girls already knowing full well how she and Lizzy planned to spend their night.

With the BU reaching it’s final destination, the four of them would disembark with a view of the local carnival taking place in the village down the road ”oh wow, I’ve always kind of wondered what a fair looked like” Izzy said as she looked over at the distant tents and rides with their flashing lights and cheerful music, with the child inside wanting to go and have a closer look ”so…um…do you guys want to check it out for a little while before heading to wherever we’re stopping and getting changed for our night out?”

Finishing what was a Burian corndog Haley wanted to try the 'rollercoaster'. No loops, but it did go quite high on the first 2-3 hills on the tracks and was more like a mountain coaster only in trees. then it had bends among the tall trees there. Nikki sat on a cart with Haley as they came up in line. Mitch on the cart behind them, both controlled speed with knees so his sprained ankle and her injured arm were safe. the ride was actually pretty long, nearly 4-5 minutes. All three were laughing, giggling, and screaming under the safety helmets.

Izzy would give Madison a confused before looking down at the small bag she was currently carrying having forgotten that unlike other occasions that their luggage wasn't being sent ahead "Ah...yes...um...ok, new plan we swing by where we're staying drop off our things then go to the fair for a little while, go back and change then hit the town, sound good?" she asked, waiting to see if anyone else had anything to suggest before continuing "Sam, any chance you could arrange for a pair of rooms at the palace?" she asked, figuring that Sam would already have official quarters or house somewhere on Bura in which she would be staying.

It was as they were rather awkwardly trying to organise their accommodation and entertainment for the evening that Izzy would spot another pair of women looking just as overwhelmed by their surroundings; gazing around at their surroundings with the awe of somebody that had never been to Bura before. Although she wasn't normally one to put herself out there and make the first move she decided to play the role of good Samaritan figuring that they had probably made the same mistake as they had by not arranging for anywhere to sleep tonight "Hmm excuse me...this may sound like an odd question but, have you guys got anywhere to stay tonight?" she asked the pair of women; one a tall angel and the other a human wearing a white blouse and jeans "...only my friend is arranging for rooms at the palace and may be able to get two more if you haven't, not that I'm prying or anything, I...just...um...you know..." Izzy trailed off awkwardly fearing that she was perhaps intruding rather than being helpful.

The Faire was bustling. people laughing and eating.

Some of them looked when a Formation of fighter craft went over head.. They were flying to the East where the war games were being held.

Mitch watched them Fly over with concern, but he pointed to the Games,Lets see if Haley can win some prizes.. and if i can win some for you guys..huh?

There are some drivers that will be headed to the Palace. They can take items if you wish

Sam smiles and walks over to a driver," Excuse I am Lt Robertson, I would please like all of our things brought to the Palace and set up my room and three others for my guests, thank any problems contact me." Sam smiled and motioned for everyone to give their stuff to the driver to bring to the Palace.

Sam smiled back and replied," We should be good to go shall we hit the festival now?"

The luggage problem was solved more easily than Madison thought it would. As Sam instructed, she handed her bag over to the driver. relieved that she wouldn't have to worry about getting a hotel either.

NA-CE smiled and replied to Alison, " Yes it is beautiful, I thought my home was beautiful but Bura is a very close second in my book. " Then Alison talked about a hotel and another crew member. " Yes we need to find a place to stay before they are all taken by crewmembers. Oh you have met someone already that is awesome Alison.

Then Izzy walked over and talked with them, she seemed nervous at the end. NA-CE turned to Izzy and replied," Hello no we dont we were just discussing that, thank you. I am Corporal NA-CE combat med-tech nice to meet you. Oh really that would be wonderful, we were about to head to city but I think I want to check out this Burian Festival." turning back to Alison she says," I am going to check out the Festival and see if her friend can get me a room, are you still going to the city or do you want to check out the festival.

Lizzy saw Izzy walk over to the new Doctor and looks like a new med tech she hadn't met yet. Honestly there were a lot of people on this huge ship that she has never met.

Lizzy smiled at Madison," Yes I think we are good to go waiting on Izzy maybe more people to join us. You look very well Madison you enjoying life on the Hermes so far?" Lizzy decided to let Izzy handle the new ladies she needs work on her social skills. Lizzy was very happy Izzy goig out on her own to ask new people to join them that was so awesome.

Sorry; didn't catch Izzy's approach in that last one...

Alison smiled at Ensign Sakura, trying to reassure. "I know who you are, generally, even though we've not yet met. And congratulations on your engagement! I'm Alison Verault, also in Med, though a different division."

"And, the offer is much appreciated. NA-CE here is brand new, whereas I'm just sort of new. Help with accommodations is appreciated. I've got someone else who'll be staying with me, though ... is that going to work okay? I can do a hotel, if no."

As to destinations, Alison bit her lip: "Tempting. But, I need to get settled in, and there's something else I really want to check out. If that comes to anything, I'll let you know; it could be a lot of fun for a group to do. I may find you at the festival a bit later."

Sam actually got on her secure comm and then officially set up a room for Lizzy and Izzy a big VIP room, her room set up, then one for Madison, one for NA-Ce and one for Alison. Sam got it all taken care of and also made sure their stuff got to the right rooms and Sam also tried to get their rooms near hers if she could.

Sam smiled at Izzy and replied," Already done, Alison and NA-CE both have rooms are we all set on rooms then?"

Sam giggled at Izzy's reaction, then whispered in Izzy's ear, " That is the shrink she read up on everyone plus I told her a little bit about you and Lizzy nothing much."

Sam smiled at Alison it was her who discovered her Angel heritage. " Your room is all set Alison just talk to the guards at the Palace and they will set you up ok."

Sam then walked towards the Festival," Ok everyone going to the festival come with me." Sam was happy and smiling as she skipped her way to the Festival entrance.

Alison smiled. "Don't let this worry you Izzy, but as Samantha says, I'm the Med division's doctor of psychiatry. And, it's just a standard part of the job to review crew profiles, and learn who does what. Not to single anyone out, I promise! But they expect me to know who may be under the most stress, and that includes pilots." She turned to Sam:

"Good to see you again, Samantha, and thank you so much for doing that." She thought it over.

"Ok, sure, I'll go with you guys. Sounds like fun! I can do the other thing tomorrow, though sheer curiosity is almost killing me."

When there was a break in the conversation, Alison briefly utilized her COM, in order to leave a particular message to someone...

”Thanks Sam, I think that’s it for rooms we’ll have to assume Nikki has something sorted out” Izzy replied, not having seen Nikki since she helped pull her up the side of a cliff.

With Sam and Alison reassuring her that everything was ok and that Alison had simply reviewed her file along with everyone else’s as part of her job Izzy would give a sigh of relief ”oh that’s a relief, so long as there aren’t any stars next to my name” she said with another nervous laugh, still not a hundred percent sure how she felt about a shrink reviewing her file.

With their rooms booked and sorted, and their luggage on the way there, Izzy would excitedly take Lizzy by the hand and begin urging her towards the bus that would take them down the road to the fair “I’m ready, let’s go already!” she giggled, eager to go to the fair and see what it had to offer.

Zob kept to himself on the ride down he was wearing a off duty uniform and with a longer light hooded sweatshirt that worked to conceal his SMG and sidearm as the ride touched down at the fair grounds he let out a small chuckle as he set off to look for something to snack on.

"Only in a good way," Alison assured the courageous pilot, with a wink. And following that, boarded the vans with the other gals to get to the fairgrounds, giving NA-CE a smile and wave, now that the Angel was integrated with the group.

Once there, she made a slight detour toward the line of booths where Justin had COMed that he would meet her. And upon spotting him, jogged on over.

"I'm so glad you're back from the mission," she kissed him on the cheek. "I confess I was getting a little worried, there." Naturally, she couldn't miss the bouquet. Smiled.

"Those are lovely. And, no blossom that grows on Earth." She sniffed at them, liking the scent as well as the color. "Do you know what they're called?"

Giving the Doc half hug. Justin informed as he handed them to her. The Florist called them Minima aureum Orchis producing a pamphlet. I picked up this reference material, that may help.

The whole point of a fair was to eat crap food and do silly fun things. Madison remembered the county fairs back home. They were always such a good time, and she was looking forward to seeing a Burian fair. As soon as they got out of the transport, she was hit by the mouth-watering smells of the fresh cooked foods and the sounds of happy crowds.

"I'm all for the food idea. But, Sam, you're going to have to tell me what to try first."

Lizzy got out of the van and the smells and sounds hit her as well, she hadn't been to faire like this since she was very young, and a younger Lt. Oliver Hack was the one that took her. Lizzy giggled as Izzy went all kid mode and having fun, this was awesome and this is exactly what the Hermes crew needed.

"Yes food I am starving and what I learned the last time I was here, almost everything is green even some of the meat but it is wonderful, the Burian Yaki fruit like a peach and aa pear combined so good."

Lizzy giggled when Izzy yelled out dodgems, " After we ride the rides after we eat ok Izzy." Lizzy then followed Izzy as she found a taco looking thing, Lizzy got Bura's version of a corn dog, with some meat wrapped in fried dough on a stick, it was delicious.

"That looks yummy Izzy what do they call it?" Lizzy then saw what she was looking for, she had them before, what she called Bura Nachos, with a very yummy, spiced meat mixed with veggies, what she thought was like guacamole, and a Bura cheese sauce, it was so good.

Accepting that everything on Bura was probably good, Madison decided to pick something at random. After a short wait in line, she came back with a basket of food on sticks with some kind of meat, some kinds of vegetables, and some other thing in between she didn't bother trying to identify. Though there were only three skewers, she realized she was getting full after eating one.

"By all the stars, these are amazing." She slid a chunk of meat off the end with her teeth and chewed it slowly to savor it. "If the food is this good at a carnival, I can't wait to eat at a proper restaurant."

all around the faire there were kids laughing and runnign around.. sounds of music, both human and Burian filled the area.

Supe and Hodden were taking turns Hammering the lever to try to ring the Bell...Minnet tried it and almost got it... Tucker went to try, alot of the other crew folks from other shipsm LAughted and the thinner, smaller man wielding the Mallet.

The things whistled as Tucker brought it dowm..and the Bell made a tiny ring..just getting touched... He Let Minnet pick out a prize..she got a purple stuffed Nuska.

as the walked away Hodden and Supe grilled him...

Its not how hard you hit it, its how fast, and you have to swing through the contact....Supe and Hodden loked at each other, then said ' No really , how did you do that...

.............

The ladie s saw alot of Fleet folks, Hermes folks and tons of Burians, the whole cross section was there.. purebred Burans. Purebred Green angles.. Biran Angels..Buroand Humans, angel humans

NA-CE was almost overwhelmed by the amazing smells of the Faire. NA-CE saw all the food and wasn't sure which to try first they all seemed amazing. NA-CE found Bura's version of funnel cakes, NA-CE got one covered in powdered green sugar. NA-CE never had anything like this before, in service of the Blue Angels she was in a lot of combat and training she hasnt had a lot of time for fun the last 100 years, and this was turning out to be exceptional fun so far.

NA-CE then got a taco looking thing Izzy had and it was extremely good. " Yes, Madison I agree if the food at a fair is this good, I can just imagine how good their real restaurants are as well, we will need to check that out Madison later."

Meari got out of the BU and looked around again at the second most beautiful planet she has been on, of course Uden's beauty couldn't be matched. Meari had sent Frakas a comm test to meet her at the airfield.

Meari headed over to the airfield, she did hear about the festival going on she would have to check that out, but first thing she wanted to do was go visit her Aunt's Memorial Lady. Meari got Dusk's comm and was about to respond when she sa her attack shuttle come in for a landing. Meari walked with Frakas at his pace towards Dusk's shuttle.

They don't have them here in the city, but the surrounding town and villages breed them. And tomorrow, I plan to go and check these critters out! Maybe even rent and ride one, if that's possible. Izzy responded in an enthusiastic voice to Maddy's suggestion that they did everything, with her finishing the last mouthful of her Taco in order to join the others as they started heading off towards the dodgems "hmm well technically you're not supposed to bump into the other cars...but it's more fun if you do" Izzy replied to NA-CE's query as to the aim with her figuring that as an Angel that she had probably never seen a fair like this before "...I take it this is your first time to a fair too huh?" she added with a friendly smile as they walked.

With most of the carnival games relying on hand eye co-ordination, something she didn't have a great deal of since her accident, it would take Izzy a little while to finally find something that she felt confident enough to try with her suddenly veering off to one side with Lizzy. Bearing the name "Electro-Buzz" and covered in lots of cartoon lightning bolts, the game consisted of a long length of twisted copper wire fixed to a table and a hooped wand that you had to move along the wire without touching it, else you set off a buzzer and had to go back to the beginning "Fancy your luck little lady? The aim of the game is to move along the wire using the wand without touching it, if you pass a coloured mark you get a prize but if you get to the very end you win the grand prize" the Burian carne explained with grin, gesturing towards a games console at the back of the stall, nestled in amongst a plethora of cuddly toys and games "I sure do" Izzy cheerfully replied, laying down her credit and taking up the wand in her right hand and waiting for the light to turn green before starting.

It was definitely one of the biggest Ferris wheels she'd ever seen. Which suited her purpose splendidly, in terms of the view.

Soon, she and Mr. Kase were seated and en route to the top. The city's skyline proved just as striking as she had hoped.

Bumper cars were such a blast that Madison almost didn't want to stop. But the group moved on to play some of the booth games. The only one she played was one where she tried to toss rings onto bottle necks. She went through three rounds but it was so much harder than she thought. It was fun, though and that was the point. She had maybe more fun watching the other girls play their games. A vendor coaxed her into buying something that looked like cotton candy, but it turned out to be way better. She munched it as she stood next to Lizzy, cheering Izzy on.

NA-CE had a blast on the Bumper cars, she got hit, but she also did some hitting and had a lot of fun. Once the ride was over the group headed over to the gaming area, Izzy was trying one game and NA-CE tried the throw dart at balloon get a prize if you break it.

NA-CE broke two balloons and got a medium stuffed purple Nuska. She smiled at the group as she collected her prize. She then watched Izzy and the others play games.

The track was split into three sections with each bit separated by a coloured band; Izzy would all but race along the first section which only comprised of a few slight wiggles and a solitary curve with her easily passing the little yellow band meaning she could pick a prize from the bottom shelf comprising of balsa wood gliders and colourful balloons and pinwheels. The second section was a little trickier with the frequent twists and turns causing Izzy to grip her wrist with her left hand however she would pass the little blue band upgrading her prize to the next shelf that held a selection of colourful yo-yo's, whistles and wind up toys.

By this point the rest of the girls were urging her on with her pace slowing as she tried to negotiate a series of zig-zag patterns followed by sharp rises and descents with her skill having seemingly also caught the attention of the Carnie. Was that a hint of worry I just saw in his eyes? Izzy wondered as she passed the golden band and the grand prize was now in sight.

With a small crowd of people cheering her on, Izzy would pause to catch her breath before tackling the final stretch which consisted of a corkscrew that plunged straight down towards a gold painted star on the table that would win her the grand prize. Sadly however she would only get about halfway before the wand slipped in her hand an caught the wire causing a flash of lights and the blaring of a buzzer "oh no! I was so close!" Izzy shouted in dismay, with her fancying that she saw the Carnie breathe a sigh of relief before flashing her smile "That's bad luck young lady, but hey you still get to pick a prize from the top shelf" he said with a showman's smile and a flourish as he pointed to the shelf full of cuddly animals, which was probably a better prize than a games console when she came to think of it.

Quickly forgetting her disappointment at not reaching the end Izzy would survey the colourful menagerie before eagerly selecting her prize "ooh that one on the left please!" she said happily taking what appeared to be a bright pink monkey with six arms and a curly tail with a cute little bow from the Carnie and handing it to Lizzy with a triumphant grin "see, I told you I would win my girl a prize" she said before leaning up to give her a quick kiss before speaking to the group "so...what should we do now? There's a shooting gallery over there, shall we see which of us ladies is the best shot?"

Lizzy watched Izzy navigate the wire with the wand, she was doing great got the first two colors fast, then she slowed down. She took her time and it looked wicked hard the third section, but Izzy did it fairly easily and the Carnie was nervous. Lizzy watched as Izzy hit the last really hard section and got halfway through. Lizzy turned around so as not to see what Izzy won so she would be surprised.

Lizzy smiled at the 6 armed monkey, gave Izzy a kiss back and replied," Yes you did, now I have to get you one at least as big." Lizzy smiled at her monkey it was awesome and even better Izzy won it for her. Lizzy whispered into Izzy's ear," Thank you very much I am glad you didnt get the console, this is so much better thank you my love."

Then Izzy brought up shooting and Lizzy replied, " Hell yes let's go find out. Thank you again Izzy, and yes ladies lets see who can shoot the best." Lizzy went over to the shooting galleries. There where three types of shooters, air guns shooting corks to hit targets, bee bee guns to shoot out the star and lastly there was an archery set up to shoot real arrows at targets, Lizzy did that at the ball when they had their games. " Ok ladies which shooting contest first or should we see who the best is at all three?"

No sooner had Lizzy finished giving her a kiss, Sam would give her a hug as she congratulated her on winning a prize "hey that was nothing, try smiling at a camera whilst a gunfight is going on behind you!" Izzy giggled in response to her nerves of steel comment.

At the suggestion of trying out the shooting gallery the girls would heartily agree to the idea, with only Sam looking a little concerned about it all "Hey don't worry, Maddy's right it's only a bit of fun, besides I'm not exactly a marksman either" she said giving her friend a reassuring squeeze as she stood with her arm about her shoulders "Come on, let's show these pilots how it's done!" she cheerfully said as they started heading over towards the first of the stalls.

Sam walked with the others to the Shooting galleries. " Yeah you are all right lets just have some fun, and yes Izzy lets kick some butt shall we." Sam went to the cork air gun gallery, each person would get 8 shots to knock off moving and stationary targets, the whole gallery had lots of targets each one had a point level. You get enough points you win prizes.

Sam decided to go first, she actually shot pretty good, but she did get a 20 point target which was a very good shot that Sam just went," Wow hat was lucky." Sam hit only 4 targets but she got a 40-score good for medium prize.

When Sam was done she was very happy with herself at how she did, and then said," Ok I set the bar, that was actually fun everyone, ok who's next." Sam held her air cork rifle up for someone else to take a shot.

NA-CE was having a good time she followed the ladies over to the shooting galleries. She watched Sam go first and get half her shots but had one really good shot. When Sam was done NA-CE said, " Very good job Lt., I guess I will give it a try."

NA-CE went up and took her shots she got the first 4 but they were only 5 points apiece, she had to go for a higher point one. NA-CE then went for higher point values, she missed one then got 2 10 pointers, her last shot she got a 15 pointer and was very excited. She finished up with 55 points, she smiled and said, " Wow that was fun but harder than I thought those corks travel different. NA-CE then held up the gun for the next person to try.

Lizzy watched the others shoot and knew the gun would be different from a normal gun. Lizzy smiled and said," You guys did great, now lets see what I can do."

Lizzy then took her position and aimed the cork gun, the first one missed badly she said," Wow you guys were right, ok lets try this again." Lizzy then got a 30 pointer but it took her 3 shots, with 5 left, she added another 25 points tying NA-CE. Lizzy was happy with herself in tying NA-CE and she only missed 2 targets. Lizzy said," Wow that was hard and fun, ok Madison your turn." Lizzy then handed to cork gun to Madison.

Roy was impressed, but not awestruck, by the scale of the faire. "I haven't been to anything like this in a LONG time...the Navajo Nation Fair is pretty big. They don't have the rides or anywhere near as many games...or didn't when I was still living on the Res...but they had no shortage of vendors." He grinned as the youngsters ran off to get food, leaning over to talk with Shadow.

"Seeing stars and planets is awe-inspiring...but you get used to anything, after a while. The only scenery these kids are used to seeing, when we aren't on shoreleave or in combat, is either the interior of a ship or a view of the stars. This..." and he gestured at the masses of people, the seemingly limitless assortment of stalls, games, and vendors, the lights and noise...

"They've NEVER seen anything like this. Even if the carrier stations had some kind of event on this scale, they were Stem Kids...they'd have never gotten close to something like this."

Madison watched as the others fired the cork gun. There seemed to be a trick to it. She used to shoot varmints from horseback from over a hundred meters away back home. It didn't seem like it should be that hard. The cork seemed to go pretty straight for a few feet then dropped off a lot. She decided to use a shot to get the windage. Aiming carefully tiny bit high, she knocked down a 5 point stationary target. Then she moved up to a fifteen point target. Guessing it would drop more she again aimed high but a bit more. It missed, but got it with a third. Two more verified she had it right. Moving targets, she knew how to hit, she went big and aimed at the furthest ones getting two out three of her remaining shots. In the end she got 100 points and a stuffed animal she didn't recognize, but it was cute and pink.

"That wasn't so hard." Madison pretended to be co*cky, but everyone could tell she was kidding. "I bagged a pink cute-asaurus." She smiled holding it up and she held the gun out for whomever wanted to go next.

Lizzy smiled as Madison kicked ass and she replied," Wow Madison that was awesome, you have used a rifle a lot haven't you. I am a much better shot in my fighter. We have our winner." Lizzy giggled and then looked at the group, and said," Ok shall we do more games or hit the rides?" Lizzy was having a blast this was amazing she was so happy this faire was here. There was one thing she had to do before they left the gaming area though.

Lizzy did want to win Izzy a prize, she saw the dart throw that Sam and Madison tried. Lizzy smiled at everyone and said," Hold on be right back." Lizzy walked the 30 feet to the dart game and paid her credits. Lizzy then got her serious face; she so wanted the huge 6-legged horse with wings stuffy that was almost as big as Izzy was.

Lizzy went full bore fighter combat mode, and Lizzy made it look easy as with 3 darts she hit three special red balloons. Lizzy was excited and she won the big stuffy, she was so excited, she knew she had an advantage being a fighter pilot, she left a 10-credit chip for the carnie as she ran back to Izzy with the huge stuffy and said," Izzy here you go I won this one for you." Lizzy gave Izzy a kiss and the huge 6-legged winged horse. Lizzy loved her 4 armed monkey, and it was even more special because Izzy won it for her.

frakas and Meari were at the beginning of the faire when Frakas pointed back to the Town.let us get solid food at the 'Crossed Trees' They have good solid food, then we might sample fun food?

backtracking a bit, they walk down the street , entering the Crossed Trees, They had meats and stews and soups, as well a beer and other drinks.

The Sanri ordered cuts of three meats, a Beef, a 'pig-like ' thing and a Chuka bird , with a Gain type soup and two pitchers of beer for them.. Then waited for merai's order.

Both Boys only knocked down one each, which didn't get them anything.They looked crushed as they saw folks walking around with big animals and all kinds f toys. Shadow Crouched and looked at them..hey? You aren't always gonna win..right? but...you aren't always gonna lose..., we'll come back, but there are alot of games here..lets move on...we can come back later if you want another shot.

Flores came passed with a coupe guys from The Hera.. She had a stuffed Nuska, and was playing the giggling happy chick, she saw shadow , Roy and the others as Dusk tried to knock down the Nuska's but missed all three ( she was rather angry)

Shade didn't even try.

Flores said,Hey? Kids didn't win anything?

not yet..just started.. she handed Shadow her stuffed animal while the two Hera guys looked on him with disfavor.

Come here Guys... this is just to get you started.. . as she laid down creds for three arrows.. Bulls eye was a big price.. two in the next circle was a medium, one of the outside was a Burian bead necklace.

Shadow chuckled as she gave two arrows back to the guy and got two more 'straight ones' Shadow said to Roy , henry and Val...we got kicked out of the Michigan state fair, because of me in the football throw, Flores at the archery thing, and Lyri as the shooting gallery... we won prizes and handed them out to kids we saw who didn't have anyone...they..um..took exception.

Flores brought the Bow up, and hit the Bulls eye, then hit another Bulls eye, then the third , just outside .She frowned at the carney Guy...

Can and Roll picked out a Stuffed Snake thing with wings ( like the thing Shadow was attacked by, on The Green Moon) Lyri picked a medium sided Green fish thing for herself.. she took back her Nuska from Shadow, and left with her two , rather cowed' followers.
Roll and Can were happy, Shadow grinned at the carney as they moved to a Disc throw.. Get the Disc through the Largan's mouth to win a prize.. three discs.. the more you get in the bigger the prize to chose from on the shelves...
The Boys eager listened to Shadow on how to throw a disc, then he stepped back to let them try.

Meari smiled at Frakas and replied, " Yes that sounds very responsible and a good idea Frakas." Meari followed Frakas to the Crossed Trees, Meari took a seat and she ordered, the large selection platter that basically had some of every meat offered, plus a special Burian soup and lots of various veggies.

Meari than said, " This is a very nice place you been here before I assume, now what do you know about Burian/Human Faires? I haven't read much about then yet still learning my human history and culture."

NA-CE watched everyone else shoot and was very impressed with Madison, NA-Ce smiled at Izzy and replied," Thank you, I am a combat med tech, and I am a member of the Blue Angel Special Forces they taught me a few things over the last hundred years." Na-CE smiled and nodded at Izzy.

After everyone shot NA-CE said to Madison," That was some pretty good shooting there. Thank you this is really fun, I have never done anything like this before." Then Lizzy ran off to the Dart game and she came back with a huge stuffed animal, NA-CE smiled.

" I agree with Lt. Robertson lets head to the ride area and see what is on the way shall we."

Despite them technically competing with one another, she would shout encouragement as Lizzy took her turn, with Maddy then proceeding to wipe the floor with them all ”oh wow…you’re a good shot Maddy…for a pilot” she said, adding the last part with a giggle to show she was only teasing.

It was just as they were discussing where to head next that Lizzy would suddenly disappear to play another of the games; throwing darts at balloons with her walking away with a giant cuddly toy after nailing three of the top scoring balloons ”oh my god he’s so fluffy! And he’s almost as big as me, oh thank you Liz!” Izzy loudly exclaimed as she wrapped her arms around the giant cuddly pegasus, overjoyed to be given a prize of her own.

After leaning up to give Lizzy a kiss they would carry walking, with Sam suggesting they try out some more of the rides “Don’t forget the roller coaster, oh and the Ferris wheel could be fun…what about you Maddy, anything catch your eye?” she said from somewhere behind the pegasus she was carrying.

Madison smiled at the compliments coming her way after doing well with the shooting. "I was a cowgirl before I was a pilot, Izzy. But thanks." She knew Izzy was kidding with her, and her reply was also sad in fun.

Hugging her new pink stuffed pet, Madison cheered for Lizzy as she won the big Pegasus for Izzy. It was ginormous. Madison's first though was how Izzy was going to carry that thing around all night. When the topic came up, Madison tossed her hair aside and considered the options.

"Rollercoaster? Hells yes. Ferris Wheel? Definitely. Let's do everything, then go drink a lot." Madison stopped at the sound of a loud Yahoo coming from the horse stables. "Did that sound like Nikki to anyone? We should check that out."

"No wonder we came last Sam, we've got Annie Oakley here!" Izzy giggled before eagerly listening as Maddy suggested they did everything before then going out drinking "oooh I like that idea, let's do that" she said in an excitable voice.

Speaking of Annie Oakley it was around about this point that a loud cry could be heard with it sounding reminiscent of the cowboys of old "hmm it could be her" she said looking to Lizzy to see what she thought before shrugging "...well I think it came from that direction, let's take a look, besides which the roller coaster is that way" she said indicating for Maddy to lead the way as she meanwhile took Lizzy by the hand.

On arriving, she saw the lady pilots, Sam, NA-CE, and Madison we're all there, appearing to have done well for themselves, based on the number of fuzzy prizes they were clutching.

She also noted there where three types of fire arms available, cork guns, BB guns and real pull bows.

"I've always thought archery looked fun," she said to Justin. "But, never tried it. Takes quite a bit of strength, to nock an arrow, as I hear. I'll stick with what I know." So said, she procured one of the BB rifles for herself.

Her uncle had taught her how to shoot beer bottles perched along a fence, among other things. There was nothing really different about this, except that the BB gun would have no recoil. Which was only a plus.

It'd been some number of years...not counting basic training with her ESN issue sidearm. That was a pistol though, and not a rifle. But she reckoned this was like riding a bike, more or less, in terms of not forgetting.

There were various sorts of targets; the harder to hit they were, the more points you got. She began on the lower end -- just to reassure herself -- and picked them off with fair ease. Then moved onward to the more challenging.

The most so were beyond her skill, but she did well enough up to that point. Enough to collect one of the more decent prizes: a stuffed, silver and grey feline animal, with a mane like a lion, and a pair of small antennae on its brow.

"Awww, now this here's a cute little critter," she drawled, in a faux western accent. "Here, he's yours," she handed him to Justin. "I think he wants to be co-pilot in your fighter," she winked.

After Lizzy pointed out the lockers, the four of them made their way there.

"I got this." Madison scanned her credits to buy two large lockers, then opened one to put away the pink cuteasaurus. "Go ahead. I don't want to miss what has Nikki hollering like that."

After their stuff was secured, Madison continued in the direction of Nikki's voice. She didn't hear it anymore but she had a well practiced sense of direction, even in wide open environments. Not much further than the lockers, the source was obvious.

"Horses!!" Madison jogged up to the corral where a vendor was offering horse rides. These horses were penned and probably trained for walking through set path in the enclosure, but they were still beautiful and reminded her of home. Just seeing them made her happy and she felt the urge to ride one, even in such a contained environment

Riding on a pinto with long legs, Nikki was trotting around the center ring.

"Hey Nikki!" Madison called out to her. "Looking good!"

Roy followed along, relaxing (as much as he ever did, planetside) and watching the two young boys enjoying their prizes. "You two should probably try one of the shooting galleries," he suggested to Dusk and Shade. Looking at Shade, he added, "Especially you. I've seen the way you shoot, you could probably pick up a pretty nice prize with one of those air-rifles." They weren't close enough to see, yet, whether they were BB guns or firing pellets...he was guessing BBs, as they were ballistically inferior and made it harder to consistently hit a target...but the ranges weren't that big, either.

"We don't really practice much throwing, unless it's grenades, and even then, we don't really have any sort of precision practice. Your dad's got an edge on those games...all that time playing football. I mean, even though he's usually catching, he still ends up throwing a ball more often than any two people I know who aren't on the football team." He chuckled, watching as Roll, slightly older and more emotionally mature than Can, was trying to coach the younger boy on how to throw the discs for the game they were at, even though he himself was only just learning...it had a very 'big brother' energy to it, caring and encouraging, and it made Roy feel some small sense of pride that he'd helped instill that kind of ideal in Roll.

NA-CE followed the others when Madison got two large lockers she said," Thank you Madison." She then placed her purple Nuska into the locker for safe keeping.

Then the group headed to the horse corral, NA-CE had heard about Earth horses but has never seen one in real life. They had horse like animals on the Blue Moon but they were much different than Earth horses. NA-CE did not know Nikki or Haley but she smiled and waited for the others to respond.

Yes Nikki we are heading to the mountain coaster now then a few other rides then hitting the town, but the faire is so beautiful at night isn't it, the ride down the mountain should be spectacular. "

Roll and Can had to stand on a crate to be high enough to toss the discs. Roll , at first, didn't want to sue the Box , until Shadow showed him where the disc would be, if he was throwing.

The Logic helped sooth some of the 'big kid vide' and he would relent.

Can didn't do very well the first time( never even hit one of the Largrans ) Roll hit them, but didn't get the disc in its mouth.

Shadow paid for another Round... Can tried to focus really hard on his last dics and it went in!... his prize for one in, was a Burian bead bracelet..but he won it!... he scrambled off the crate and ran to Val to Give it to her, she knelt down and let him put in on and hugged Can.

Roll Missed his first disc, but got the next two in. He ch9ose a green and brown Pirloc. and he smiled as he jumped off the box.. He looked at Shadow and said...I don't have anyoine to give it to? as he held it tight.

Shadow patted his back,Sure you do? If Mortica comes back? you can have it waiting for her?.. or You could give it to Sneak...or Nikki, or.....haley? You have alot
of folks to give it to? But... you can also keep it yourself?..you won it?

Roll thought as the walked, he nodded his head... you arer really smart, Mr Shadow...

naw? I just have a few more years on you. You're not stuck in the stem anymore.. you'll learn alot more about people know... your time in the Stem taught you the bad stuff, now, you can try and find the good stuff.

The two boys ran to the shooting gallery , Shadow looked at the adults and said.. so? Can wins the first prize he ever won in his tiny life..and what does he do?..runs to Val and Gives ti to her.... Roll? is worried because he wasn't sure if he had some one to give his to?...neither one of their first thoughts, was to 'keep it for myself'

Both boys turned as one to look at Roy when they reached the guns.

Sam smiled s the others put their prizes away, Sam hadn't gotten one yet but she was fine she knew she wasnt the best at some of those games. Now if they had games where she just had to use her brains then she would kick ass.

Then they found the horses, Nikki and Haley riding them. Sam smiled at them and stood at the fence watching the beautiful animals. This would be the closest she has ever been to a Earth horse Sam had never been to Earth and finding out she was Burian she probably has never been to Earth. Sam was truly amazed at the animals and if Haley or Nikki got close enough Sam would try to pet one as she said," I have never seen an Earth horse in person before they are beautiful." Sam had a huge smile on her face.

Madison was delighted to see Earth horses. She went up to the nearest one, a roan mare, and immediately began talking soothingly to her and rubbing her nose. The mare responded positively, recognizing that the blonde human could almost speak her language.

"I know how you feel, Nikki. I'm afraid to get on one because I won't want to stop. But we have a roller coaster to go scream on. Soooo...." She forced herself to break away from the mare.

"Sam, if you want to ride one, then say the word. I won't have an excuse to saddle up also. But that would delay us all getting to the coaster. If you want, we can just come back tomorrow also during the day."

Justin stared at the BB gun's barrel, to see if it was bent. Hum not too good he stated at the obvious poor outcome. Turning to.the Doc he handed the stuffed feline. Maybe after more practice I'll be deserving of the prize.

Roy grinned as he stepped up to the shooting gallery. "Okay, boys...your first formal lesson about shooting..."

He looked at the guns, picking one up and checking it out. "First thing is, you're shooting BBs, which have a tendency to 'wander' a little bit in the air. Not enough to make this impossible, but enough that if you miss the target, it's not necessarily because your aim is bad. Also looks like these rifles don't exactly get meticulous care, which means the sights could be a little off and the barrels definitely aren't in optimum condition."

He handed creds to the man running the booth, took one of the rifles, and started to point to the parts as he explained, "Now, these have open sights, which are arguably the hardest to work with for precision shooting, but the best for being aware of your whole environment. You want the stock seated square against your shoulder...these air rifles won't kick, they don't have that kind of recoil, but it's a good habit to get into. A real rifle will kick back against you when you fire, and having it snug to your shoulder means it doesn't get time and distance to speed up before it hits you. Then you settle your cheek down here on the stock, like this..." and he did it to demonstrate, "and pick your target."

He fired at the furthest one, watching to see if the round went high or low, left or right, so he could see how far off the sights might be. The BB went just low, and he nodded.

"Now, I know from experience and watching that this was a case of the sights being just a little off, and not the BB veering off target, so I can adjust my aim. But that's getting advanced, so I'll stick with the basics." He set the rifle down on the counter in front of him, and held up his right hand with the first two fingers extended in a V. "This is your rear sight..." His left hand went up with the first finger extended, and his arm held out at length away from him. "This is your front sight."

He bent his right arm, so he was looking through the V at his left hand. "Now, what you want it to have this finger..." and he wiggled his left-hand finger, "in the center between these two fingers, and all of them even across the top." He brought his hands together slowly, until all three fingers were next to each other, in the formation he was demonstrating.

"Then you put the target RIGHT on top of this finger, hold yourself steady or rest against something steady, and squeeze the trigger gently. If you pull it hard, or jerk it really fast, you pull the front of the gun to one side and it throws off your shot." He picked the rifle back up, knelt down so his elbow was resting on the counter, lined up his shot again (compensating for the sight being off), and squeezed the trigger. The BB didn't hit the target squarely, but the elevation was right and the little hard-rubber Largran spun in the air on a crazy angle before dropping to the ground.

"It's that last part that messes most people up. They either pull the trigger too fast, or they wrap so much of their finger around it that they're pushing the gun as they squeeze...see, I'm just using this flat part of the tip of my finger..." He fired again, sending another target spinning. "I think that's why the LC has a hard time shooting...he's too coordinated for most of the other common mistakes, but he is just a little bit...impetuous." Another shot, again at the far targets...and his target twitched, but didn't fly, as the BB veered slightly and just grazed the edge.

"Set 'em up again," he said to the vendor, with a grin, as he laid down more credits. He poured out the BBs, noticing that some wobbled a little bit as they rolled, and he scooped those off to one side. It wasn't anything they were doing to fix the game...BBs just were really difficult to make evenly balanced, and the extra precision it took to do it went into making bearings for stuff that needed to move smoothly, not air-rifle ammunition.

He picked out five that seemed pretty stable, loaded them back into the rifle, and proceeded to knock down five targets in rapid succession. "Just like that," he said, with a grin. He reloaded the 'inferior' rounds, and set the rifle back on the table. "Don't use that one, if you want to play this...it shoots low."

The vendor cleared his throat, pointing to the assortment of grand prizes to indicate that Roy still needed to pick his prize. Roy snorted softly...the last thing he needed was a big stuffed animal in his quarters, unless he intended it to become a chew toy for the largs. He turned to Dusk.

"Which one's your favorite?" He didn't need to keep the prize for himself, after all...

Dusk was Delighted as she pointed a Blue green Chuka Bird. The carney used his hook and pulled it down, handing it to her with a thin lipped smile.

Shade tried two times to win something, but he didn't get anything, the first time, and the small Prize the next. He won a Burian Bead Bracelet, he the was a whirl and crackle.

You heard Roy? You'd do better with a real weapon, this is just for fun..and for carnies to make Creds

The Carney smiled at Shadow,you want to try, Sir?

Shadow chuckled and held up both hands...if i was a decent shot. I wouldn't need this... he patted the Sanri Blaster.

The CArney chuckled.

The Boys looked down the barrel of the weapons.. Roll fired hisalotted rounds..he Got a braclet, but was ..OH SO CLOSE..to the next ring. Can was all over the target, but seemed to be 'adjusting' and he did get a 'next ring' so he got a Medium prize..he selected a Green stuffed 'dog'. Judging by the collar it was a 'mila knock off".. he excitedly gave it to Henry.

Roy gave Shade a consoling pat on the shoulder. "Like I said, these air rifles aren't reliable...or, rather, their ammo isn't reliable. If they were shooting pellets, they'd be more accurate...BBs have really sh*tty aerodynamics. These a reason Humans stopped using round balls for ammunition in their rifles a few centuries ago." He chuckled, and added, "And there is absolutely no knowing what kind of care the rifles get. I'm guessing that the day this faire closes down, they all get tossed in a box and left there until the next faire...sights get knocked out of kilter, barrels start to get bent, the whole barrel and receiver start to get wobbly on the stock...any of those can screw up your aim. Don't sweat it. I've been on the battlefield with you...I know damned good and well that you can shoot straight."

He applauded for the boys as they took their turns on the firing line, and each managed to win something. "That was pretty good, especially for a first time out and using unfamiliar rifles and inferior ammo." He made a mental note to contact Gresh about getting some light rifles...something without much kick, that small kids coming up on their teens could handle, possibly even competition-grade air rifles. It'd make a good training tool, teaching basic shooting skills to the kids on the Hermes, and even if they didn't decide to put on a uniform when they came of age, they'd know their way around a weapon if the ship ever got boarded or they ended up on a colony with minimal military assistance.

"When we get back to the ship, we'll see about teaching you with some proper rifles." If all else failed, he could teach them with pulse rifles, that had nowhere near as much recoil as the hard-ammo weapons. Dusk went first, she was too rpoud to do the frownt row. she did manage to get two of three in the Middle..she picked out a black and white 'bat-like' thing

Rolls and Can were advised by the carney to go for the front row, Unless they stood on top the counter.. they did Can put 2 in, but there third one bounced off.. but can , using both hands to throw, got three in!..though two of them thought about Faling out..
Can Jummped up and down that he won Roll was happy with him patting him on the back.. The medium prize was a speckled loberster-like creatures.. Can beaned like he had just won the fleet lottery!

Sgadow saw Roll happy for Can, and how excited Can was.. he looked at Roy and winked ..lets go you older folks... get them footballs flying!

Roy stifled a grin at Dusk's translation and commentary. "That, I believe, is what they'd call a 'rope-a-dope'...let the other guy push you around until you get him right where you want him. There was a boxer back in the 20th Century that did that a lot...he'd let himself get hit a few times, back up to the ropes, get the other guy feeling co*cky...and then he'd throw a couple of hits, move out and box the other guy in against the ropes, and go to town on him. Your dad let himself get backed into this...watch him turn this upside down on the guy..."

Shadow delivered the expected results, eliciting a snort from Roy when he asked about the breathing on Gritz' throw as Roy recognized the tactic...get him thinking about what he was doing, break the natural flow of it...and Roy just stood back with a grin as the expected results came about.

He cheered on Roll and Can as they took their turn...Can's technique was a little unorthodox, but those footballs were awfully big for his hands, so it made sense for him to use both hands.

Then Shadow was urging Roy to take his turn. Footballs were larger than the grenades he was used to throwing...but the weight wasn't too different. He hefted one, sized up the far targets, then co*cked his arm and threw...just short. The ball bounced off the face of the target, about six inches below the hole. He picked up another ball, mentally recalibrated, and threw again...about three inches high, this time. With a nod, he picked up the last ball, adjusting his swing...and bounced the ball against the bottom rim and into the target. "Grenades are easier," he commented drily.

He turned to Dusk. "I really don't have any room in my quarters for stuffed animals...what looks good to you?" he asked, gesturing at the prizes the carney was moving to get.

Besides it's easier to hit something you're flying towards than something you aim at with a metal pipe. Justin confessed. Val took her turn throwing, she seemed to have the general Idea how to throw a football,,she didn't do too well, she got one in the Middle, and she threw up her hands as the last one bounced off the face.
Can an over and gave her a Hug...Its ok? You're better at be a mommy...

The group walked towards a ride, that was less crowed , for the first ride. The flashing sign said 'Barrel rides'... Shadow looked to the Adults, This Looks like the Tea Cup rides back on earth... You guys go on? I'll hol;d the prizes...

a..VERY..good looing green half angel woman was walking through the crowds with a case on her shoulder, while wearing something that looked like a workouts suit, or even a one-piece bathing Suit... Shadow waved her Over , shelled out creds for Three mesh bags called, 'Naragran Mesh'... they were elastic-like and could expand as needed, and they were more or less 'see through' Shadow sorted out the prizes, One for Doc's family, one for Roy and Dusk, and one for Roll.

Dusk Pulled Roy into one of the barrels , while Roll and Can went into another, and Doc and Val went into. Dusk Pointed at the burian woman as the carney guy made sure everyone was belted in.

she seems very good at selling her goods.... as the Burian coyly watched Shadow pack prizes into three different bags. He smiled and talked to her, she tilted her head and Flicked her and, she did something with her COM then moved off, maybe swaying bit more then she need to as she called out for those who wanted to buy the mesh bags.

The Ride started . Shadow tore eyes eyes off the retreating female and watched as the 10 Barrels spun and twisted as the floor of the ride turned and lights flashed... He thought that rides were always better at night, with the flashing lights.

With Sam seemingly quite taken by the horses, Izzy would quietly listen as she, Madison and Nikki spoke of riding the following day. Personally speaking Izzy found the idea of riding a horse just a little too scary to be enjoyable with her being more interested in the rollercoaster ”Shouldn’t be too long of a queue I hope, but a drink wouldn’t hurt” she replied to Madison, deciding that she quite liked her now that they had got to spend some time together.

Once everyone was ready to go they would carry on towards the rollercoaster, making a slight detour to an adult s only drinks stand that sold brightly coloured co*cktails. Although much to her obvious embarrassment Izzy would have to show the bartender her military ID before he would serve her as he made the assumption that she one of the girls kid sister rather than a crew member. With a bright pink co*cktail, complete with straws and something that looked like a strawberry on the edge of the glass Izzy would join the queue for the rollercoaster.

Sam pulled herself away from the horses and followed everyone to the mountain coaster line, first they would wait in line to get the lift up to the coaster and then head down from the top. Sam added," Oh yes but you can drink them on the ride up to the top though?"

Sam got a fancy colorful drink and was excited to be at her first Burian festival with her close friends. Sam was really liking Madison she had a good heart, was nice and she liked to party.

Lizzy was bubbly and all smiles, she was not the horse type of girl either, she liked horses but she wasnt the horse type of girl she was dancing, high society, party type girl. " Oh yes if it will take anytime it is definitely drink time. Yeah Sam it looks like it goes way up this looks like it will be amazing." Lizzy got a very colorful Burian drink with fruit in it that was soaked in Burian alcohol. Lizzy hadn't been drinking to much when Harry was around she was trying to help Harry fit in, but now there was no reason not to drink and have a great time with her friends.

Lizzy stood in line and then asked someone running the lift up to the coaster," How many people to a car coming down we have a large group or is it just a single person car?" Lizzy was asking to see if there group could get into one car or it was one at a time or two at a time, she was just getting information for the group.

NA-CE was watching the horses, she walked over to some in a corral. One just walked right up to her, NA-CE smiled and petted the horse on the head. The person in charge gave NA-CE something as a treat for the horse. Then NA-CE said to Madison and Sam," I wouldn't mind joining you for an Earth Horse ride, I have ridden other animals but never a Earth horse."

NA-CE followed the others to the coaster line, when they talked about drinks and the wait, NA-CE smiled and replied," Oh yes a drink would be great while we wait Izzy." NA-CE followed the others to the adult drink stand and got a Burian Angel drink that was absolutely amazing.

Frakas was happy, he said, as he opened the door,we will participate in Games, yes? Then try some rides that they will permit us to ride? I do not know why people ride rides?, but ti seems like the enjoy themselves..
walking around the Buildings . they enter the faire grounds.. Kids were running about, the lights of the Boths seemed brighter , sounds of chicldren and even adults shouting and laughing..

every now and then a Bell or whistle would go off, indicting a booth gave away a big prize.

When Morgan and Kira finished their food, Morgan sipped on his beer and asked ,So? what's next , Master Chief? Games or rides... we might want to save carney food , for on the way out?

The roller coaster had cars that could sit three 'human size folks, or two..'Sanri' sized people. at the Gate to get into the cars, a Human and Burian checked folks for height and weight and tried to seat them accordingly , with thier companions.

...........................

Billie and Arnie were on a a 6 armed chair ride, that dipped up and down as it spun faster and faster...This might be fun, except , its w hole different thing when you don't get to control.

Meari smiled a real genuine smile, and replied as they walked through the gates of the festival," Yes lets check out these games, I see many people with prizes, and some of those games look fun. Yes we will see which rides we can go on, yes I guess we will find out what all the excitement is about wont we Frakas."

Meari looked at the games looking for one she might be good at, she then sees the one ere you use a hammer to hit and see if they could hit the bell. Meari watched a few strong looking humans try and only one got close to the bell. Meari said," I wonder if they will let us try that one?" Meari pointed to the game.

Madison agreed that she and Sam would go riding the next day. NA-CE, who was nearby also expressed interest.

"Of course, NA-CE. The more the merrier. Literally. It'll be awesome. Earth horses have their personalities, but these are all chosen for their temperament. You'll have a blast."

It was great that Sam, NA-CE, and Lizzy and Izzy were all on the same page with Madison. When they stopped at the stand, Madison didn't know what to order so she told the green skinned attendant with the pretty eyes and cute dimples to surprise her with something sweet. A few minutes later he handed her a tall glass filled with a slushy drink, Orange on the bottom but fading into red at the top. He called it a Fire Fruit Fresh. It was deliciously sweet and went down cold, but when it got to her stomach it radiated warmth that settled in some unexpected places. It also gave her an instant buzz. When he saw he eyes light up, the cute bartender nodded.

"That's the fire fruit" He grinned mischievously. "It'll help you have more fun. I usually give it to couples"

"Ya. Wow."she was hit by a sudden rush of energy causing her bounce and dance her feet. "This can make things interesting." She laughed, but only part it was from the humor of the situation. That was just one sip and she had a whole glass of it. "Hey, Lizzy, Izzy, Sam, NA-CE you have to try this drink."

With adult refreshments in hand the gang went on to the roller coaster queue. Lizzy went to talk to the operator while the rest of them waited in line. Madison sipped her drink carefully. I twas so good she just wanted to drink it down, but she was afraid at how much it's effects intensified. The drink was meant to share but she had already had more than half of it. She could barely contain the excitement.

"I can't wait to get on the ride. I love roller coasters. Back home in Wyoming I went to all the roller coasters when they came to town, and I even went to California to ride the giant one in LA. That thing was amazing and I had so much fun. This is going to be great." Her eyes caught a group of cute guys walking by. "Hey guys. Looking good! Wooo!" The men smiled, appraising the women with smiles and approval, but they kept moving. Madison waved goodbye as they went.

Roy had been relaxed...well, almost relaxed, as close to it as he ever got when he was planetside. Seeing the woman tap something on her comm after talking to Shadow, he suddenly went on alert, like a herding dog that has noticed something trying to sneak into its flock.

It was almost impossible to keep track of her with the barrels spinning within the spinning of the ride...but that didn't stop him from trying. And when he could no longer follow her, he instead focused on the crowd around Shadow...he had no doubts that the LC could handle himself, but that wouldn't stop some idiot from trying to collect the outstanding bounty the Demons had put out on him, and there were a lot of innocents in the area.

"Sorry," he apologized to Dusk, as the ride slowed down. "Thought I saw something...and I've ended up kicking myself for not trusting my instincts a few too many times. Hopefully it was nothing...we'll see..." As the ride attendant came around to release them from their barrels, he watched Shadow with an intensity that, if Shadow noticed him, would itself be almost as good as calling out a warning. Once they were out of the ride, he wasted no time in getting himself and Dusk back to Shadow's location.

For Mitch, Nikki and Haely ( and whatever friend she had with her ) The saw theb 'knock down the Nuska ' Booths. one Burian run, run human run.

There was a felow who had a Big metal 'pool' it was three freet deep and the water were dark green. They saw some kids ue fishing pools to dop a disc shaped magnet in.. The would Pull it out and the Man and woman ( both Burian) who ran the game would point to the color of the fish on the chart that said what they would win. The Big Prized where 3 foot tall Plush fish-things, brightly colored, or choices of hand held Vid games.

( players roll 1d20 for the game. 1 or 20 Grand roize, choice of big fish-thing or hand held Vid game... 2 or 19 large lush fish-thing.. 3 or 18 medium fishthing 4 or 17 small fish thing 5-16 Nothing, but you get a Burian bead bracelt...cost 2 creds, you get two tries)

when the bareel rider , ride was over, Shadow handed Doc thier bag, and Roy, the bag for Dusk and he. Shadow carried Roll's bag.

They went to a ride called 'The Pulse Gun.' Capsules that could hold up to four people would be shot through a tube with all kinds of lights flashing.. it would dive into a pound at the east end of the faire area, then Climb up , before shooting down and around to the 'chamber' would it would hiss to a stop.

Shadow Colledtced the bags to Hold again, When Maria and No-Ca ran up to them...LC? would it be alright for Shade to come with us?

Shadow pointed to Shade,,,Ask him? the two women laughted and turned to Shade, Mia Amigo? You acre to spend some time with us, we are gamming and riding, and then go to get food?

Shade whirled and bleeped and held up a hand

he says you gotta let he pay for food and some rides, he has more creds , and would prefer you to save yours?

MAria frowned.. then smiled,alright, but we pay some too. Si?

Shade Nodded and Off he went, .. Shadow say him give his prize to Maria who hugged him as she held the stuff creature tight.

Dusk asked,is Shade and Maria....together?

Shadow shrugged,I have no clue, i know he doesn't always come back to our quarters, so? he's staying somewhere., but? there are a few hermes ladies that have not been shy about dancing with him, and eating with him on the Rec dec... I have no clue how they even talk?

Roll looked at Roy...should i ride with you, or with Can and his family?

Lirg, Nugest , Vaka and Magin walked throught he faire., some folks frightened of Lirg, but relaxed when they saw Nugest ( who was hetting some 'legs of Chuka Bird , bones and all)

Vaka and Magin seemed out of place , being shorter, though Magin was almost a head taller then the Occui.

Shoey was smiling as Lippy and Scarlet walked with him on either side, both carring large Nuskas.

Will,Cora and Ellen we having fun at the shooting gallery, though they each oonly had a medium prize.

Jumping Lion, Giles and Nifty were chatting up some Burian young ladies , whose lothing was made to attract young males. and it seemed to be working.

Jax and Sneak stood in line at the coaster, they had bought a prize back , Sneak had a large Nuska, and she wore a few bracelets as she held Jax arm.

Lizzy smiled as Madison seemed to have found a co*cktail that did the same to her as that Burian wine Izzy got the last time they were on Bura. Lizzy giggled and said," Yes I think Izzy and I will share one later. Izzy it is similar to the Burian wine we had I think. " She giggled and gave Izzy a wink.

They were now right up front and there were 5 of them so they had to go in two cars," Ok it is max three to a car, so three of us go to other and then two go together, I will go with Izzy, anyone want to come with us or you three go together. Lets see how the coaster runner thinks we should do it to get the best out of the ride?"

Lizzy then asked the Coaster runner," How do you suggest we split up to get the best out of the ride sir?"

When Sam told Madison that the Fire Fruit had a powerful aphrodisiac, Madison nodded as she finished the last of it. "Ya. I noticed that. It was pretty obvious with the first sip." She giggled.

Finally they made it to the front of the line. There was some conversation about who would sit with who. Madison didn't care who sat next to her. She just wanted to get in that car and zoom. "Let's go NA-CE. We can rock this thing."

NA-CE smiled at Madison, she had heard of Fire Fruit, she would stay away from that until she found herself someone to help her deal with the aftereffects. Then there was talk about who was going with who NA-CE did not care she liked all four of the other ladies. Sam was right NA-CE did tower over the other four ladies being 6'1".

" Sounds great Madison I will get in first." When it was time for the group to get into their cars, NA-CE got in first and then hopefully Madison got in and the car headed off for the track. As they were pulling out she says," I have never been on anything like this before so we will see how this goes Madison."

"You've never been on a roller coaster?" Madison laughed. "Well, my friend, you are in for a treat. If you like speed, or thrills, or are scared of either, this will be something you remember forever. My advice is to NOT freak out. No matter how much you think you might, you won't die. So just enjoy the ride. When we get to the top, throw your hands up high ans scream all the way to the bottom. Trust me. It's almost as good as an org*sm."

As the car sped u on its first ascent, Madison looked over at MA-CE with huge smile. "Here we go!"

With her own drink finished, Izzy would take a tentative sip as Lizzy suggested that it was like the bottle of wine she'd bought her when they were last on Bura "hmm that tast- oh wow! yes that's a lot like that wine" Izzy giggled as the drink hit her making a mental note to get another bottle for them to share "...unless of course you've already found somebody first" Izzy added to Sam's warning about the wine as she looped an arm about Lizzy's waist, giving Maddy a look that more than implied that she had done just that on a previous occasion.

Finally reaching the head of the line they would have a brief discussion as to who was getting into which car before deciding that she and Lizzy would share with Sam, leaving NA-CE and Madison to get into the other.

After climbing into the car, Izzy would nervously wait for the attendant to check the restraints before the ride started with the clanking of the chain pulling them to the top of the first rise, her hazel eyes going wide with fear and excitement as she caught sight of the descent in front of her "Oh my...hold on tight babe!" Izzy said as she took hold of Lizzy's hand moments before they dropped over the edge.

Then they got to the front Sam made seating suggestions and then NA-CE and Madison got into one car, Lizzy got in first then Izzy of course sat next to her. Lizzy smiled as they went up and she said," I have a need, a need for speed." Lizzy was a fighter pilot of course she loved going fast and she loved roller coasters the few she has been on. Izzy grabbed her hand, Lizzy raised her hands and screamed as they went over the edge of the first drop she seemed very excited and happy as the ride started with one hell of a drop.

Sam just smiled at all the talk about the aphrodisiac Fire Fruit. Then they made it to the front of the line, and NA-CE and Madison got into one car together, then Lizzy and Izzy got into the next, then Sam sat next to Izzy and grabbed her hand tight.

Sam seemed a little nervous and maybe a little scared," I have never been on anything like this, but here we go no turning back now." Sam held Izzy's hand tight and screamed as they went over the edge.

Stll, he slammed the hammer down and the metal ring hit the Bell to Let Frakas win a big prize.. it didn't hit hard enough to win the a Grand Prize.

Frakas motioned for meari to pick a price, then handed her the Hammer.

Morgan looked at Kira..yeah? I'm passing on that.. i don't need to be embarrassed in front of the Delta ! section.

he ended up paying for two rounds at the shooting gallery.. he handed Kira a bracelet for the first round, and she got to pick off the medium sized shelf.

Meari smiled as Frakas rang the bell pretty good but not loud enough for the grand prize. Meari then looked at the prizes and picked a large Chuka Birg stuffy. She saw many faire goers with Chuka birds, and she liked it reminded her of a bird they had on Uden.

After Meari chose her prize, she asked Frakas to hold it and she lined up he hammer hit and then hit it as fast and as hard as she could hoping she at least hit the bell.

Roy grinned at Roll. "Who do you want to ride with? I'm sure Can would love to have you ride with them, but if you want to ride with us, you're more than welcome." For all the thrills of the ride, it wasn't long enough to worry about whether or not a couple wanted to be alone...

Besides, Roll was getting mature enough that he needed to develop the ability to make his own choices, and the realization that it was perfectly okay for him to do so...that nobody who really had his best interests at heart was going to try and tell him what he had to do, where his personal pursuits were concerned.

After Frakas was done Meari then said," Shall we try other games and try some of this great smelling but not very good for you 'Carnival' food. I looked it up on my comms, I do have to admit humns do know how to umm enjoy themselves and have fun even in the middle of a war."

Meari and Frakas then walked down the middle of the gaing areas surrounded by many games of skill and chance. " What shall we try next Frakas, you pick what we try next, but I do want to try this puffy purple/green stuff people were eating on a stick. The children seem to love it."

He nodded , matter of factly as the boarded the 'pulse round'.. Shadow was smiling as they got on board. The LV had some other crewman from other Delta 1 ships see him and come over to talk, as he watched the ride load up,..Doc Henry and his family shot our first, very fast..Can could be heard screaming..whether from fright, or delight, was Unclear.

The Rous 'round' fired out Rolls was griining as he held onto the bar and the water splashed over the canopy.

Frakas took her to the Cotton Candy stall.. there was some stocks that had yellow or Purple in, but one could tell , it was just food dye, so people would buy it , since it wasn't all green.

as they each had a stick, Frakas flagged down a sultry Burian woman who was selling the expandable , mesh backs and Bought one, to store meari and his prizes in... Kragas got a squid-turtle thing.

They stopped at a both that had a round table 15 feet across. with holes as big as a Basketball Rim , with a Meta glass cover about , 2 feet high,....

Frakas asked what it was... The carney (human) said.This is the Rats Choice.. in front of you are 6 colors and 4 symbols.. you place Creds down, if the Rat jumps into the hole, you get two times what you bet... if you lose, you get nothing.

as they where checking out the game, they could see 6 cages in the back with 2 footlong Stem Rats in, the rats looked active and well care for. a few people came and were putting creds down..one of the cages slowly dropped below the table and ws pushed forward by a metal arm... when the carney asked folks if they were ready, he hit the button , the Rat appeared in the middle of the wheel as the wheel spun slowly.., the metaglass middle cover lifted and the rat scurried around and jumped into the triangle.., the carney collected his winnings, no one had chose the triangle.

As he cleared the counters of creds, the cage could be seen returning to the line of cages, , The next rat would be a different one.

suddenly a Voice rang out...MEARI!!! Skiffle came running with her arms out, the Mom and Dad were smiling, the dad had some prizes in a bag.

Morgan and Kira walked about, ..he didcided to try the 'knock down the Nuska' that the Burian ran, he did ok, but never could get the thrid one down...waving to the stall, he said, lady's choice?

They got to the cotton candy stall, Meari got one with purple dye in it to match her hair. She took a bite and it melted in her mouth and it was like eating pure sugar. Meari giggled and said," Now I know why the children love this is it what the humans call a sugar high on a stick. It is very yummy too, but now we must burn off all this sugar." Meari chuckled more as they walked the gaming area some more.

Frakas got a bag to store their prizes in and Meari had hoped to win a few more, maybe get one for Skiffle, Meari was going to contact Skiffle and her family tomorrow to see if she could spend some time with Skiffle. Meari missed her greatly but she had a wonderful home and was safe and that was more than Meari could do for her now. Meari finished her cotton candy as they walked over to a game.

They went to this Rat's choice game of chance no skill involved, you guess which hole the rat would go down, she watched it and then looked at Frakas, " Hmmm all chance really no skill involved, do you want to try once?"

Before Frakas could respond Meari heard her name and she knew that voice it was Skiffle's, Meari turned and saw her running towards her with her arms open. Meari dropped to her knees and embraced skiffle when she got to her. Meari held her close Frakas and the parents could see tears in Meari's eyes, but hey looked like tears of joy and happiness to see Skiffle.

Meari then let Skiffle go and said," Good to see you Skiffle, I was going to contact you tomorrow, this is a wonderful surprise." Meari wiped the tears from her eyes when Skiffle wasn't looking and then said," Skiffle this is my friend Frakas, Frakas this is Skiffle my dear and close friend, she is the bravest human I have ever met." Meari was all smiles she couldn't hide how she felt about Skiffle. Then she asked Skiffle and her parents," Are you staying out of trouble, taking care of your parents, and would you like us to stay with you in the faire I have never been to anything like this before Frakas and I could use a guide Skiffle?" Meari smiled and gave a happy nod to her parents when Skiffle wasn't watching to make sure it was ok with them.

Meari smiled as she looked at Skiffle's parents, Skiffle got lucky in finding a wonderful, loving family. Meari didnt think her parents would mind, no one in their right mind would bother a little human girl walking around with a Sanri and Udenese warrior walking with her, and she hoped some of Skiffle's friends saw them together, she remembered she got harassed at school for saying she was a purple haired alien giant, which to a girl Skiffle's age and size was very true.

Meari then asked," So Skiffle would you like to show Frakas and I everything fun in this faire, and if there is any game you want to try, or any prize you would like we can try and win it for you ok Skiffle, it is so good to see you so happy Skiffle."

Skiffle had been through way too much for her young age, first being a Stem kid, then the incident with the grenade at the compound, then being saved but almost destroyed on their shuttle ride to Bura. To finally finding a loving home to grow up in and be the best she could be. Meari fought back tears, these were the strongest feelings and emotions she has ever had that did not include combat and killing.

Lirg looked to the Bell ring thing,That person there grew fery angry at us. Poor Nugest isn't allowed to playn the game again, he bokes the hammer and the bell, they had to have people replace the bell, and the man got another mallet from behind his stand.

Nugest smiled,Man say i was ogre... Magin, she said it was a compliment?

Magin looked at something else to stare at when Nugest said that.

There was a fellow who had a Big metal 'pool' it was three free deep and the water were dark green. They saw some kids use fishing pools to dop a disc shaped magnet in.. The would Pull it out and the Man and woman ( both Burian) who ran the game would point to the color of the fish on the chart that said what they would win. The Big Prized where 3 foot tall Plush fish-things, brightly colored, or choices of hand held Vid games.

( players roll 1d20 for the game. 1 or 20 Grand prize, choice of big fish-thing or hand held Vid game... 2 or 19 large lush fish-thing.. 3 or 18 medium fishthing 4 or 17 small fish thing 5-16 Nothing, but you get a Burian bead bracelet...cost 2 creds, you get two tries)

the Burian woman finished explain , Frakas gave her 4 creds....The Human Girl will take 2 turns, Then we will see if Meari or eye take a turn..

The woman gave Skiffle the rod, and said.. you get for tries.. the first two is one turn...the 2nd two are the next turn

Skille had the line in the water.. she was waiting as some kids 'swept the magnet through' the water..others just held in still until they felt something

she got 3 'big fish' but they were easiest to get and didn't count..She did get a slightly smnall one and the Man let her Pick out a bracelt. Skiffle picked one that had little stone and wood beads... when she Got it.. she smiled at meatio and hnaded it to her...

Meari watched as Skiffle won a bracelet, she picked out a very nice one and handed it to her. Meari smiled, she fought back the tears, and replied," Thank you very much Skiffle but I could never forget you, I will wear it always. "

It was now time to win Skiffle a bigger prize, Meari tried to look for the smaller fish but she couldn't see through the green water. Meari put 4 credits down and picked up a pole and went fishing for prizes. " You did good Skiffle lets see how I do." Meari then pulled up 2 big fish but in between she got two smaller ones, one giving her a small prize and the other getting her a medium prize.

Meari then said," Ok Skiffle you can pick out the 2 prizes ok." She was very happy she won a prize for Skiffle, she deserved everything she got for the life she had to endure.

When the rollercoaster car found the bottom, Madison took a breath. The ride made a hard turn then ascended again. The girls in the car ahead looked like they were enjoying themselves. NA-CE seemed good too, but everyone was always too high on the rush during the ride. They'd get a chance to rave or rage after.

Soon, Madison and NA-CE were at the crest again, then dropped.

Frakas went to the football throw. Frakas threw, he had watched practices, but watchign wasn't doing.. he failed to get two of three in the Middle row.

Roy nodded at Roll's decision, and when they loaded in the car, he tucked Roll in between him and Dusk, so that he could reach across to put his arm over Dusk's shoulders and hold Roll securely...not that he didn't trust the ride restraints, but he wanted Roll to have some sense of what it was like to feel that sense of being somehow part of a family, and it was one of the few ways he knew to do that.

The water splashed over the canopy of the ride, and was still dripping off when their car came to a halt. Roy had a big grin on his face...after many of the things he'd been through in his time on the Hermes, carnival rides didn't really present much of an adrenaline rush for him, but Roll's excitement was contagious. "How'd you like that one?" he asked both Dusk and Roll as they got off the ride.

Nugest helfed his 'leg of something' and waved for the others to shoot

Lirg didn't like the size of th rifles. he held it out like a pistol and fired.., he was only good enough to win a small prize.

Magin seemed to be a good fit for the bb guns.. she did well , but only good enough for a medium prize.

Vaka did the best.. he hit good enough to win a Nuska as tall as he was.

The Carney looked at Zob..you still have a mag coming?

As the ride continued to shoot around the bends and drops, Izzy would hold on tightly to Lizzy’s hand as she tried to decide whether or not this had been a good idea, screaming as they went down another steep descent only to immediately shoot back up again and twist round to the right so drop back down again after another sharp turn.

As exhilarating, or terrifying, depending on your point of view, the ride was it would eventually come to an end with it slowing to gradual stop at the station ”oh wow…that was…quite a ride” Izzy breathlessly said when the ride finally came to a stop before laughing with her head resting on Lizzy’s shoulder, with her now able to admit that she had rather enjoyed the experience…not that she was in any rush to do it again.

Roy chuckled at the reaction to the ride. "Well, sometimes fighters do stuff that feels like that..." he answered, thinking back to his first ride in a fighter...taking the jump seat of a Hammer IV that Shadow was 'commandeering' from Mars. It had felt kind of similar...nobody was shooting at the ride, so there was a certain element of danger that was missing...

But that wasn't a story you told a young boy who was flushed with enthusiasm and looking to have even more fun.

He followed along, enjoying seeing Roll and Can so eager for the next ride...he hadn't felt that kind of excitement in decades...not since before his mom passed. His father and stepmother hadn't really involved him in anything that inspired a lot of excitement from him...the closest had been the anticipation of weekends and later weeks spent by himself, living out on the land, and getting away from them...

He checked that line of thought before it got any further. Roll and Can were having fun, and he wasn't going to put a damper on it by dwelling on his troubled childhood. He brought himself back to the here and now...the boys were having fun, he was enjoying being with Dusk, and for the time being, the world seemed safe. That was enough.

He let himself be swept along to the swings, an odd look of contentment on his visage, that seemed somehow at odds with the adrenaline-filled energy surrounding the rides.

Shadow smiled softly as he watched, nodding his head. It wasn't that long ago, , both kids felt as if thier 'people'..or... everyone? 'serted them. Now Can smiled brightly as he was cinched into his seat.

Rolls seemed comfortable as his eyes were wide , wondering how being on a 'swing' high in the air would feel

Meari watched Skiffle get three of three and win a medium prize on her own. Meari tried the second row with Frakas and got 3 out of three in the middle row. Meari let Skiffle pick out her prize as well. They had a great time, they had won many prizes, they then ended up at what they called the pulse ride.

Sam was holding onto to Izzy for dear life as the ride went up and down, side to side, turns, bends and drops. Then they finally began to slow down and come back to the station they left.

Sam was like wow it was amazing, scary as hell but a lot of fun. Sam gout out and then helped Izzy and the excited Lizzy out of the car. Sam then headed over and waited for NA-CE and Madison to get out of their car. " Wow is the word Izzy, I guess my first ride should be a doozie right. So what now ladies?"

Lizzy was excited through the whole ride, she loved it, and Izzy could feel her going with the car like she was in a fighter right now. She a smile of joy she couldn't hide, she loved going fast and being close to the edge it was part of being a great fighter pilot.

When they finally got back to the station Lizzy almost looked sad it was over, at first she said," Lets do it again, yes again." Then she saw Sam's and Izzy's look after the ride and realized they didnt enjoy it as much as Lizzy did. Lizzy got out taking Sam's hand for help and then they walked over and waited for Madison and NA-CE.

When Madison and NA-CE joined them, Lizzy had calmed down a lot and then calmly said," I loved it as you could tell, but the line is way too long for another wait, so yes Sam what shall we do next. We could head back and get you a prize and then head out onto the town for some drinks and fun, what do you say ladies."

While Madison had been in combat missions flying against enemies trying to shoot her out of the sky, there was still a huge rush from a roller coaster. No one was trying to shoot her down, but the lifts and dips were far more interesting when not strapped into a co*ckpit with an ejection seat. When the car finally came to a stop, she suffered a huge crash of disappointment. But all good thing must come to an end, so she put on a brave adult smile, and climbed out, stepping out the way for NA-CE.

"That was such a rush. I could do that again and again." Madison skipped over to where Lizzy, Izzy, and Sam was waiting. "Hey, guys, what did you think? f*cking awesome, am I right?" They could tell that none of her buzz had worn off in the excitement. If anything, she was even more high.

"So, what next? Do that again?" She looked over at the line. "Or not." Then Lizzy suggested going and winning a prize for Sam, Madison bounced. "Yes, yes. Let's do that. Then hit the town and get some drinks and maybe dance."

NA-CE enjoyed the ride immensely, the thrills without the danger of true combat, she also saw Madison the fighter pilot enjoying it, of course she would thats what they do fly on the edge and that is what this ride felt like which was amazing. Humans did know how to have fun that was for sure.

" Yes it was what you call a rush Madison." NA-CE joined Madison with the others and then she replied," Well that was enjoyable like Lizzy said the line is long by the time we get another ride the night would be almost over."

NA-CE listened then added," Yes we can pick up all of our prizes and then make sure the LT. also has a prize as well, then drinks and I love dancing."

" After that yes lets head to our rooms at the Palace, change then we hit the town and they will stay open until we leave the Burians love the Delta fleet they rescued them from Demon occupation."

Sam led the group to get their prizes then hit the gaming area before they left for the Palace. Sam looked around for a game she might be good at.

The plan was set. Lockers, Prize for Sam, Palace, then change into party clothes and go get crazy. First the lockers. Madison followed the group, occasionally getting distracted by eye flirting with passing men. When all the other girls stopped to stare at her she was a bit embarrassed at being caught, but then she realized they just wanted her to open the lockers. "Whoops, sorry." She tilted a half grin and then went and opened the lockers with her key card.

"I say we go to the ring toss and all play. One of us is bound to get a prize for Sam. Either that or take me back to the shooting gallery. I have that beat now. Drinks not withstanding."

Roy sat in the middle, this time...it let him keep a comforting hand on Roll if the height of the swings started to unnerve the boy, but it also left an arm available for Dusk to hang onto for reassurance...or whatever other reason she might have...

"We never had anything like that Pulse ride where I grew up...we had swings like these, but nowhere near this tall." They had seemed plenty tall at the time, but he was a couple of feet taller now...and after jumping out of a shuttle in the middle of a space battle with only his armor and a rope tether, to rescue Lyri, NOTHING seemed quite as tall as it used to. There was nothing like staring directly into the abyss of space to shift your perspective on distance...

He relaxed into the seat as the swings started moving, an almost zen-like peace on his face.

Roll was having the time of his short life. his eyes , only slightly smaller then his smile as they were getting strapped in the chair.

Dusk leaned a bit on Roy, then peaked around the shoulder to Roll... ..you like these rids? They seem to encourage fright? Most people do not like fright?

Oh No Miss Dusk, they do give funny feelings? But being scared isn't one for me?..It tickles my tummy!

Once the chairs were filled, the Machine started and the chairs began to whirl around betting faster as the Hiss of the pole telescoped Upwards to take them higher. Roll looked like a happy doggie that sticks its head out a hover car window..

Can was cheering as the started to dop and raise, even as they spun.

Upon arriving back at the locker Izzy would watch in amusem*nt as Maddy eyed up a group of passing men before politely clearing her throat to get her attention ”See something we like?” she asked with a mischievous gleam in her eyes. Not that she would begrudge a little window shopping.

With Maddy managing to return to the here and now, if only for the time being, they would retrieve the prizes and start walking towards where the games were, with Izzy’s pegasus being almost big enough for her to ride ”So what do you guys fancy? I can see a ring toss, a ball game and…what looks to be mini golf” she said pointing out each stall as she spoke, although there were many other games available to try and win a prize for Sam.

Madison then opened the lockers as Sam looked around at the games, then she heard Izzy say mini golf. She used to play that with her friends in the computer lab. Sam smiled at everyone and said," Let me try this mini golf first if I dont win something then someone can play whatever to win me something deal."

Roy chuckled at Dusk's question to Roll. "It's not universal, but it's pretty common for Humans to get a sense of enjoyment out of doing things that push the limits in some way...stuff that feels like it should be dangerous, even though you know it isn't, like these rides..."

Dusk followed Roy's gaze( the best she could)..Father seems to be most relaxed, when everyone else is stressed... but seems stressed , when everyone is is relaxed?

The swing ride lasted a while , as the machine had to lower itself as it slowed down.

When the two groups of riders came over to Shadow, they found him feeding a Green got dog to Mila as he ate obe himself, the bear-thing had some green ketchup on its snout, indicating , it either ate, or they tried to make it eat.

The LC looked at the others Roll looked tired, Can was smiling, but his head was hunched over a bit.Its getting Late, for the smaller Hermites? Maybe grab a Hotdog
and drink for the road and head Back?...

Dusk looked around at the others.There are rooms at the Palace for us all...There is a Lunch meeting at Noon, that we are all to attend?

Meari nodded at the operator and then they got in putting Skiffle between Frakas and her and doing the belt as they were told. Meari then said," Thank you Sir we will not touch it until you let us out."

There was a fellow who had a Big metal 'pool' it was three free deep and the water were dark green. They saw some kids use fishing pools to drop a disc shaped magnet in.. The would Pull it out and the Man and woman ( both Burian) who ran the game would point to the color of the fish on the chart that said what they would win. The Big Prized where 3 foot tall Plush fish-things, brightly colored, or choices of hand held Vid games.

( players roll 1d20 for the game. 1 or 20 Grand prize, choice of big fish-thing or hand held Vid game... 2 or 19 large plush fish-thing.. 3 or 18 medium fish thing 4 or 17 small fish thing 5-16 Nothing, but you get a Burian bead bracelet...cost 2 creds, you get two tries)

he looks at the two Boys and Dusk...ok..you each get a turn, then off to green hotdogs and Yellow burgers.

he held onto the box for dear life..and fished his second turn..he didn't get a breaclet, because he won a prize.. he sat next to Shadow and Mila , Holding the Box with both hands, still in shock..

NA-CE moved to watch Sam try this golf game they called it, she had to hit a little white ball with a funky looking stick with a mallet on the end of it. Sam then hit the ball and tried to get it into holes. NA-CE watched closely trying to learn the game and Sam got one in the first try, and then another the second try.

Sam had won a medium prize and NA-CE clapped with the others and added," Very well-done Lt. win two smaller prizes to get a bigger one. Yes I think it is time we head back to the Palace to change excellent. Thank you very much ladies for showing me around you have been wonderful."

Roll stepped up, lowering his line into the pool as he'd seen Can do, letting the end down until the line started to go slack. "Well, pull it up, let's see what you've got..." Roy said with a gentle chuckle.

He lifted the line out of the water, revealing the little metal fish on the end that had stuck to the magnet. "Not bad, young sir...that's a medium prize right there, and you've got one more chance to do even better!" Roll's eyes lit up, and he looked around at everyone, his hands already shaking with excitement...not that the prize was that great, but he'd WON it, all on his own!

"Take a deep breath, Roll," Roy counseled softly, smiling down at the boy as he put a hand on his shoulder. "You look like you're about to drop your pole, and if these were real fish, you'd probably lose it in the pond if you did." He coached Roll on his breathing, calming the jitters a bit, and then said, "Okay...let's try it again..."

Roll let the line in, more excited and more confident as he'd already won a prize, and felt the 'click' as the magnet latched onto another 'fish'. He pulled it readily from the water.

"A medium AND a large! You're a natural, kid!" the carney called out, giving Roy a wink. "Step over here and tell us which ones you want..."

Heartened by Roll's success, Dusk stepped up, and let her line drop into the water. While Roll fretted about which color of fish he wanted, she pulled up the line.

"Sorry, little lady...it looks like your young friends have used up all the luck...but you do get a bracelet as a memento of attending our faire. And you get another chance."

Roll looked back. "If you don't win nothin', you can have my big one, Dusk," he said, looking at Roy as he said it, forcing bravery into his voice. It was evident that he was conflicted about the offer, but he added, "I'm sure a captain's got more room for a big toy..."

Roy cleared his throat gently, giving Shadow a knowing look. These kids had come from having nothing they hadn't had to fight for...it was, to them, only natural to share what they had with those they considered their 'pack'. But it didn't stop Roy from warming with pride that the boy had made the offer.

Dusk, for her part, looked flustered for a moment, trying to decide how to handle the offer. "That's very generous, Roll. I have another try...let's see how I do before you give me anything, okay?"

Once again, she dipped the line in the water, letting the magnet sink until she felt the slight tug on the line of the metal fish connecting to the magnet. Slowly, almost afraid of what she'd see, she pulled the line out, and...

"Well, bless my soul...it's been a long, long time since we had back to back winners of the large prizes! Well done, Captain!" he announced, picking up on the clue from Roll's statement about what her rank was. Dusk let out a distinctly uncaptain-like squeal of joy, dropping the pole to give Roy a hug before she went over and gave Roll a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

"I'm sure it was your generous offer that made my luck turn good. Thank you, Roll!"

Roy just chuckled quietly, pleased with how it had all turned out. "Well, pick your prizes, you two...we've got a hungry LC and Mila to feed, and some of you need to be getting to bed soon..." Some inner part of him laughed at the sound of it, imagining all the Marines he'd led through the years agog at the image of him suggesting a bed time, rather than just declaring it as such and brooking no discussion on the matter...

Roll got a big Blue and yellow spotted and a Green and yellow stripped fish. I never won any prizes before ...ever....!

He inisited on carring the big one, , he added the medium one to his 'bag'.

Can Nodded his was still a bit shaken...i never had a vid game. Doc Daddy has things on a Vidboard for me. But this is a real live vid Game!

Shadow laughed softly as they walked to the fast food stand.It helps that , most of the vendors are Burian , or transplanted Burians . They seem for 'straight up' then any of the traveling Humans.

Dusk msiled and picked out a Purple and Pink stripped fish Like Roll's big one. she took the Bracelet and slipped it on Roy's left wrist.There! Everyone has won prizes. One way or the other.

they moved off to the stand where Shadow ordered two more Hotdogs, one for Mila, and One for himself, then asked for a bowl or something for water for Mila, while he got a soda.

Foods on me guys.... last stop before we get sleep, so warm up your bellies.

He beamed at Roy and Shadow,On Everest...when there was a football game we would have kids near the garbage cans for when people left?.. sometimes we got lotsa fries!

Roll nodded , big nods,Yeah! , we used to do that by the beach,,, if you got there after lunch or supper times..some people in a hurry to get back to work would even trhow away half of a burger!

Can nodded with a grin..yeah! they didn't know what they were throwing away! The should kept them for the next day, incase they got Hungry!

Shadow shook his head and said softly,well? these dogs and Burgers , or whatever , are yours.. you eat what you can, and share with Mila if you can't finish...Bura isn't a station.. these are good people , for the most part. and you guys are just like everyone else here.

Motioned to a rough wood table, they moved with their eats and drinks, I little Occui girl came from behind the Stall with an old meat container that had fresh water in for Mila. Shadow gave he a 5 cred chip and she excitedly ran back to show her parents.

Roll had a burger and fires and a small shake He was looking at everyone at the table.This is the Best Night ever...and then we Get to sleep in the BU with the largs!

Father? arev you comign to the Palace?

No? I'll stay with the Kids and Mila at the BU tonight, i'll head to the palace in the morning to get cleaned up for the meeting...

They ate, Roll and Can, sitting at a rough cut wood table, eating green hotdogs and burgers, with the lights of the of the faire , Highlighting them.. Big smiles and giggles as they talked about prizes and rides.

You guys stay with Puskie and help with the Largs Mila can stay too , so she can run and Play, and help watch over you guys...sometime after, I'll come back do Disna and Puskie can go to the faire as well..or hit the Inns , whatever they like to do.

meari and her people were 'shot ' out of the rifle.. the bullet-shaped container zipped along the rails cutting hard and diving down to go under the water with a sudden splash. Rising out of there, it climbed, before dropping , hitting three turns that went opposite directions before rising above the fairground, to dive straight for the lake once more.. hitting the water and going a bit deeper, it shot out , banked hard and c. the ride people unhooked the glass and Opened it.

for her part Skiffle giggled and shouted.. she did scream on the last drop, but was laughing as the climbed out.

Mitch nodded,we do enough for the APF. If they are offering the Palace, we're gonna use it!

they stood for the hover vans back to the airfield and such.

The Ladies still scampered around as they looked for their next thing to do.

Orria ran over to Zob. while the pack of kids she was with waited..she was smiling. This is Fun! I have never been on rides like this..and all kinds of food.... some of the kids have to go back to the ship, other kids are staying in the town or airfield? what should I do?

Meari had a blast, but she kept an eye on Skiffle who seemed to have fun but screamed a few times, but she was happy and laughing as she climbed out.

Meari smiled at Skiffle and said," This had been amazing Skiffle thank you for coming with Frakas and I and showing us around. We have time for a few more rides you get to pick the next one ok Skiffle." Meari was having a blast and everyone could see her true feelings Meari had for Skiffle. One thing Skiffle would always have would be a kick ass Aunt would do anything to protect Skiffle and her new family.

Flores , Brivett and Gia were walking through the fair, they looked tired as they made thier way to the lines for Hover Vans and busses..

some people didn't want to wait and just walked , The trees formed a 1 mile or so tunnel from the town to the airfield, The City/palace was a good 5 Miles from the airfield, , , but there were more vans , and Busses waiting to take people there, or bring them back , if they were going to the airfield.

Shadow and company waited in line, there was a good ben Can and Roll could easily walk the mile or so to the airfield. But they had prize bags, , full tummies, and alot of excitement that, might have made it a longer walk then needed.

Sam smiled at everyone and replied," Yes from what I gather Bura is similar to normal human night life in the city, but yeah more homey folkish type music and parties." Sam then blushed and said," Yes I can sing I think it was my Angel gift I didn't get their height for sure." Sam giggled and got into the front of the van and told the driver to the VIP entrance of the Palace. She has earned this respect from the Burians and they gave her these quarters and benefits may as well use them for her friends.

The swing ride was a little intimidating to Billie...here she flew in the Black all the time...put her life on the line and yet this ride seemed to give her pause. Maybe it was because it was a swing? It wasn’t as...safe as the co*ckpit to her bird. She gave Arnie a look that said she did not really care to go on the ride. "Sorry if your heart was set on going on...if you want...I'll wait for you here..." she said dryly, feeling that she should be embarrassed about it but yet she really wasn't.

"I've won lots of prizes tonight," Roy responded. "I just decided someone else had more use for them..." He chuckled as he said it...but he showed no indication of removing the bracelet.

After getting himself a couple of hot dogs with all the fixings (which tasted remarkably close to the ones from back home...that, or else it had been so damned long since he had a hot dog that his memory was faulty), talk turned to the plans for the night, and tomorrow. Roy grimaced at the question. "Well, much as I would like to spend the time getting to know the new largs better, this..." and he flicked the rank marker that indicated he was not just any old sergeant major, "says that I should be at the palace for the proceedings tomorrow." He shrugged, in a kind of surrendering gesture.

"Tell you what," he said, looking around the group. "We'll walk you all to the BU and then get a ride to the palace." He was enjoying the kind of awed exultance that colored the boys' voices as they spoke about winning prizes...it was the youngest he'd felt in a long, long time and he wasn't eager for it to end.

Skiffle's Mom and Dad were looking out over the crowd, there were still alot of people, but it was thinning out as people made their way to the vehicles.

The Little Girl said,..I think they are trying to see where I am? I guess its getting late.... the last part trailed off in a bit of sorrow.

With it only being around a mile to the fair it was decided that it would probably be quicker for them to walk than try and catch a ride on one of the vans, besides which the evening was pleasant and the walk would do them good after the meal they had just enjoyed.

Upon entering the fairgrounds, Tarja’s eyes would light up as she took in the sights and smells that would transport her back to early teens ”wow…this is so…um…cool?” she said, despite her mind questioning whether she was using the correct slang ”…come on I can see waltzers over there, lets go” she said, eagerly taking Andruss by the hand and leading him towards the ride in question.

Skiffle's parents returned the Hugs, the Dad also shook ...whichever. Hand Frakas extended. Frakas adjusted to the greeting. a perk from being on the Hermes.

The Mom said.There is no school until the Fleet leaves, too much distraction.. The Faire ends tomorrow as well, and this is goign on all over Bura..as the main crops come in. Though, there are foods harvested all year long, this is the 'big time' of year.. You may COM us, we live in the next Village to the west? we can bring Skiffle over to enjoy some more faire time with you?

Meari went over to Skiffle kneeled down and gave her a big, huge hug and said," It was so good to see you Skiffle, have a good night and we will see you tomorrow." Meari was sad to let Skiffle go but very happy they would see her tomorrow.

The Dad carried the prizes, and the Mom held Skiffle's hand as they all waved heading to the other end of the faire where vehicles were waiting to take people to the west.

Frakas looked around,what should we do now? The town is there..or we can go to thepalace, or city? There is no use doing more faire things, if we will be back tomorrow with young Skiffle.

Morgan gave Kira a stuffed flying snake, he..FINALLY..won at the Burian Nuska knkc down... ( she also sported 7 braclets from there.

Morgan was a bit frustrated. Shore had some prizes with Him, Lippen, Scarlet and Ellen..

whoa, Shoey? You got a bunch of prizes...and stuff animals!

The Girls giggled a bit at the 'prizes'..

You know? Chief? You could have just bough a bigger one, for all those bracelts , Mster Chief has?

Morgan flushed a bit...yeah well.. i'm stubborn like that..i wasn't leaving that booth until i won her a prize...

Shoey patted Moragn on the shoudler,good thinking..better to pay for one booth guys kid to go to college , rather then spread creds around...

The Girls laughed a bit as the waved and Moved off to the 'adult drink area.

There would be a look of confusion, mixed with just a touch of panic, on Tarja’s face as Andruss spoke of sea creatures ”What? No…I mean I don’t think so?…I was meaning ride with the spinning arms” she replied rather uncertainly, had she used the wrong word?

It was as they were approaching the ride in question that they would spot Meari walking with a Sanri man, who Tarja would give a quick wave to not wanting to disturb her downtime, closely followed by Kira and Morgan at a games stall to whom she would also give a quick wave. Seeing her new comrades in such a casual setting made for a strange feeling, especially seeing as only a few hours previous they had been in combat together.

It had been a fun, relaxing time at the faire. A sort of innocent fun that was like the better moments from her youth...those not darkened by the issues that had clung persistently to the Verault family; fostered by one member in particular.

When they finished eating Zob and Orria caught transport back into town, it took a bit but he managed to snag a fairly large suite with two beds and a living room... it wasn't the palace but it was still fairly nice it cost a fair bit but to him price was not a concern for comfort for both him and his daughter.

After getting checked in he plopped down on the chair in the living room, "You get a big bed all for yourself"

The ride would spin them around, forcing them back into their seats as the music continued to play. As fast it was it was no worse than coming in hot on a shuttle or at least that’s how Tarja saw it as she laughed joyfully as the ride spun her around with the rest of the fair going by in a blur.

Like all rides however it would quickly come to an end, with Tarja helping Andruss out of the pod with a smile ”That was great! What do you want to do now? I’ll let you pick the next ride if you like?” she said in a carefree voice as they walked. Finding herself able to let go and forget about everything for the first time in a long time.

Adruss, was glad it was over, though he was happy to see Tarja smiling. He points to the Pulse right, which looked even better in the darkness.

This one didn't seem to bother Andruss as much, even as the went under the water.. , both time.

As the car slid through the street lit streets, Izzy would gaze out at the clubs and bars wondering when she had last had a night out with the girls? Suspecting that it must have been very early in her relationship with Lizzy, back when she had been too self conscious to even kiss her in public.

With the car pulling up in front of one of the clubs, Izzy would get out and wait for the others to do likewise before putting her arm about Lizzy’s waist ”ok so I say we go to the bar and get some drinks in, and then hit the dance floor!” she said excitedly with her already moving to the music bleeding through the doors of the club. She’d always enjoyed dancing and dancing with Lizzy was even better meaning she just couldn’t wait to get inside.

Andruss grinned as he tapped the glass that locked them down.well? This has a co*ckpit!... if something goes wrong, it would have to be my fault..and I'm not touching anything 'cept this bar!

once settled in , and the first 'round" was headed to the second underwater impact... a three light count down blinked off , the shot forwards with the same rate of speed a fighter would leave the Hanger Dec.... the turns were smooth, but tight, as the dove into the first water dice...it was dark outside , so only fish that were highlighted by the capsule's light could briefly be seen.. the capsule rose out of the water, cork screwing up, then dipped down , hitting the water harder and going much deeper, before rising out, to down a few 'humps' to help slow the capsule down...as it glided into the 'breech' for the next riders.

The glass was opened some water dripped on them. Andruss was smiling..I Liked that, Safe..excitment.

Madison had never been to New York or Los Angeles or any of the big cities of Earth with reputations for their night life. Bura, however, was amazing with streets lined with clubs and bars, all with bright and colorful signs designed to attract party goers. She was still feeling the effects of her last drink, energized, eager, and stripped of inhibitions. The bright colors and dazzle of lights had her on the edge of her seat, eyes glued out the window and fidgety.

The car finally stopped in front of a place called Red Line. Izzy was out first, but Madison almost shot out of the car after her. She could feel the music buzzing in the air through the doors, putting a rhythm in her bounce as she waited for the others to join her on the sidewalk. Drinks, then Dance. That was Izzy's suggestion, and Madison agreed wholeheartedly.

"Yep. that sounds like a grand plan." Her eyes went to the club entrance, then over to a group of men entering ahead of them. "Yes, definitely dance."

After climbing into the narrow carriage, a set of restraints were lowered over Tarja's head followed by the canopy slip over the top of them and locked down tight "That is...interesting theory you have" Tarja cautiously replied as she watched the lights counting down, not a hundred percent sure that the logic scanned. She'd never been in a fighter before but somehow this was how she imagined it must feel on take off, as the final light turned off and they were shot down the track with the inertia forcing her back into her seat.

Gripping on tightly to the restraint she would laugh joyously as the ride twisted and turned above and below the water level, with Tarja catching brief glimpses of fish in the pods lights as they shot by with her imagining it must be quite a sight in the daytime.

With the pod returning to the station Tarja would laugh as the canopy was lift and they were showered with droplets of cold water "you know waltzer was safe too, right?" she replied to his comment with an amused look. After all if the rides were dangerous then they wouldn't be here "Also if you like being closed in, you should try armour sometime...it will make mech feel like you're rattling around!"
